Engaging as a community to discover the world made through Jesus for His glory
Carinya Christian School is an independent, coeducational private day school, teaching children across two campuses in Tamworth and Gunnedah, in the beautiful New England North West NSW region. At Carinya, Jesus Christ is central to the core vision of the school and our understanding of Him is imbedded in our educational practices, at every level.
We are committed to providing quality education and exceptional facilities at an affordable cost for families.
Carinya Christian School Tamworth is situated on 30 acres in the quiet suburb of Calala. The school provides a safe and tranquil learning environment for children from the age of 3 up to Year 12. It is one of the only Schools in Tamworth NSW where both Primary School and High School aged girls and boys can attend the same campus.
Carinya Christian School Gunnedah is located in the centre of Gunnedah and provides families with a calm and secure learning environment for children from the age of 3 up to Year 10. Carinya is one of the only schools in Gunnedah NSW where both Primary School and High School aged girls and boys can attend the same campus.

At Carinya, we believe and affirm to every child that they matter because they are an individual, personally made by God, in His image, to know Him and to serve Him, and that their importance as a person is given by the Creator. It is not earned or lost! It is intrinsic to them as a person.
Teaching children to ‘seek the reward in the task’ treats them with dignity and respect as learners, and shows that they are capable of valuing learning for its own sake. They do not have to be ‘bribed’ to learn, with prizes and public praise.
Our approach to sport is one of the most common misunderstandings about Carinya. In sport at Carinya, we try to teach our children at any age to ‘leave it all on the field’, try your hardest and feel the pleasure of God as you use and enjoy the abilities He has given you.
One of our Carinya distinctives is Home and School working together. Sharing with parents in the education of their children is rightly seen as a privilege for all staff, and one which we take very seriously. This means that we consider our job as partnering with parents to create a healthy, vibrant, Christ-centred learning community.
