Student Care Coordinator

Carinya Christian School Tamworth is searching for a Student Care Coordinator to commence on either a Full Time or Part Time basis from Term 1 2018.

Applications are now being received from Registered Nurses or equivalent Health Care Professionals to coordinate the care for the health related needs of students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Applicants require excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to relate with and manage young children and adolescents.

Essential Selection Criteria

- A Registered Nurse or equivalent level Health Care Professional.

- Eligible to work in child related employment.

- Committed Christian of reformed evangelical persuasion and an active participant in local church.

- Demonstrated ability of interpersonal and communication skills.

The Position

The Student Care Coordinator will be required to work during School Term Weeks and Staff Development Weeks only (generally 39 weeks a year), working a minimum of 3 days per week and with the opportunity to work full time (the number of days per week is to be negotiated with the successful applicant). General work hours each day would be 8:30am to 3:30pm with a half hour lunch break (6.5 hours per day).

Responsibilities

In consultation with the Deputy Principal, the Student Care Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the school fulfills its duty of care for students with health related needs.

The Role Includes:

Consulting with students, parents/carers and health professionals to understand and record the health care requirements of students and the responses required of the school in caring for those students.

- Documenting Student Health Care Plans and ensuring these are available and understood by all staff.

- Coordination of the Sick Bay Function by ensuring that the Sick Bay Facility is appropriately resourced with consumables and equipment and attending to the health care requirements of students who attend the sick bay.

- Coordination of First Aid Equipment by maintaining the supply of equipment located around the school buildings.

In consultation with the Deputy Principal, arranging for the provision of First Aid training for staff on an annual basis.

- Ensuring that sick bay attendance records are accurately maintained to enable the reporting of incidents and trends to the Work Health Safety committee as required.

In consultation with the Deputy Principal, responding to Infectious Disease Events by communicate with the staff and parent/carer body to inform, educate, mitigate and control the risk to students and staff.

Carinya Tamworth is a K to 12 co-educational school. The school has a strong academic profile and a broad sporting and extra curricular program.

Over 400 families form part of the school community and more than 660 students are enrolled at the Tamworth school.
