Sport

Students have two Physical Education lessons each week during the regular class program. These involve a wide variety of skills and sports including gymnastics and swimming.

Some of the highlights in the calendar include:

Swimming Time Trials and Fun Day

In February each year Time Trials are held for those students that are keen to represent the school at Zone, State and Combined Independent School carnivals. The Swimming Fun Day involves the whole school community and is essentially made up of novelty events. It is very much a family day with a BBQ lunch and parents events.

Athletics Carnival

Our athletics carnival is a great day where the whole school gets involved. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 enjoy competitive events that allow them to represent the school at higher levels. Younger children participate in their own events from running races to novelty egg and spoon races.

Gala Days

Gala days are held during the year where students play games, such a soccer, touch football and netball, against other schools in the area. These days usually involve children in Years 3-6.

Sports Clubs

Gunnedah has very good sporting facilities and a wide variety of sport clubs. Children are encouraged to take part in a weekend club sport.
