Junior School At Carinya

The Junior School builds on the good work carried out in Prep to give each student the best possible start to full time schooling in Kindergarten and Junior School. Those joining the school in Kindergarten, or in Years 1-4, are readily and warmly accepted into their relevant peer group by students already familiar with the expectations of the school. Children new to the school quickly adapt to their new environment and benefit from the “peer to peer” induction process which takes place so naturally between children.

50% Prep To Kindy Rebate

Carinya offers a 50% Prep to Kindergarten rebate, offsetting 50% of the total Prep fee paid against Kindergarten fees due. 

Class Sizes and Curriculum

Junior School is double streamed in all years other than Year 3 (2 classes per grade) and aims for class sizes of 20-25 in Kindergarten and 25-30 students in Years 1-4.  

Each class has a home room and a home room teacher, who teaches the bulk of the curriculum. Classes in the same year level may combine to allow students to be divided into ability groups in Literacy and Numeracy. This allows the provision of specifically programmed teaching and activities suited to the abilities of students in each group.

Children in Junior School have their own distinctive uniform.  They meet together once a week (usually Monday morning) for KIDZBIZ, an assembly where they sing, hear more about Jesus and enjoy being together as a “school within a school”. 

All classes in Junior School have the opportunity to enjoy a KINDERGYM program during the year as well as a dynamic and energising DANCE and CREATIVE ARTS program.

The Junior School classes have outstanding classroom facilities, with modern, air conditioned classrooms, electronic smart boards, easy access to computers and a modern, state of the art Library and Resource centre.
