A Message from the Principal

At Carinya Gunnedah, Jesus Christ is at the heart of all we do. Our understanding of Him shapes our vision and is embedded in our educational practices at every level of the school.

Children are taught that everything they learn reflects the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of the universe. They are also taught that every skill, ability, and gift they possess comes from Christ and is to be used for Him.

Each child is seen as an individual, made in the image of God, loved, valued, and respected as a learner. We believe every student’s learning and achievement is equally important, and this deep understanding of their worth shapes our approach.

At Carinya Gunnedah, parents matter deeply. We view it as a privilege to partner with families in the education of their children. We take seriously the opportunity to build strong relationships between home and school, as we know this is key to raising resilient, responsible, and self-motivated learners.

I look forward to meeting you, welcoming you into our school community, and exploring how we can partner together in the education and growth of your children.

We warmly invite you to contact the office to schedule a tour of our school.

The History of Carinya Gunnedah

Carinya Gunnedah was officially recognised as a Carinya Christian School campus in August 1999. The transition began in 1998, when Carinya Christian Education Ltd (formerly The Tamworth Christian Education Association) saw an opportunity to continue providing Christ-centred education in Gunnedah.

At the beginning of 1999, they assumed management of what was previously Gunnedah Christian Community School. Carinya Gunnedah was founded on humble beginnings, with two composite classes, fewer than 20 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, and two full-time teachers.

Today, the school has grown to serve over 250 students, from the Kindergarten Preparatory Program through to Year 10, while still holding fast to its original mission: to provide quality, Christ-centred education to the Gunnedah community.

Carinya offers extended supervision and activities for students in Kindergarten to Year 10, every afternoon during school term. Gundhi is facilitated within the school grounds and aims to provide continuity of care in the same Christ-centred, community-minded, discovery-driven environment.

Supervised games and activities are provided for students, in addition to opportunities for them to complete homework, engage in independent study, or engage in quiet reading.
