A message from the principal

At Carinya Gunnedah, Jesus Christ is central to the core vision of the school and our understanding of Him is embedded in our educational practices at every level.

Children of all ages are taught that everything they learn about is the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, as the Creator of the universe.  They are also taught that every skill, every ability and every gift they have, has come to them "From Christ" and is to be used "For Him".

Each child is treated as an individual, made in the image of God, to be loved, valued and respected as a learner.  The learning and achievement of each child matters equally with the learning and achievement of others.  These perspectives are described in more detail in the prospectus by the Principal of Carinya Tamworth.

A SCHOOL FOR PARENTS!

Parents really matter at Carinya Gunnedah: sharing with parents in the education of their children is seen as a privilege for all staff at Carinya and one which we take seriously.  A close working relationship between parents and teachers is a strong foundation in teaching children to be resilient, responsible and self-motivated in their learning.

I look forward to meeting you, showing you the school and discussing how home and school can work together in the education of your children.

OUR HISTORY

In August 1999, Carinya Gunnedah was officially recognised as a Carinya Christian School campus. Carinya Christian Education Ltd (formally The Tamworth Christian Education Association) saw an opportunity in 1998 to support the ongoing provision of Christian Education to the Gunnedah community by assuming the management of what was previously Gunnedah Christian Community School at the beginning of 1999.

It was humble beginnings for Carinya Gunnedah with just two classes, less than 20 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and two full-time teachers.

Now, nearly twenty years later, Carinya Gunnedah has over 200 students in the Kindergarten Preparatory Program through to Year 10

Carinya offers extended supervision and activities for students in Kindergarten to Year 10, every afternoon during school term. Gundhi is facilitated within the school grounds and aims to provide continuity of care in the same Christ-centred, community minded, discovery driven environment.

Supervised games and activities are provided for students in addition to opportunities for students to complete homework, independent study or quiet reading.

Gundhi is a Gamilaraay word meaning ‘house.’
